Hi, I’m Jo, an ambitious female business owner just like you!

My backstory is a common one; I was employed for many years after university but always felt there was something more out there for me. At the age of 40 I had to re-assess my life and priorities and finally decided to leave my job to work for myself. I’ve never looked back.

I’ve always had a love of numbers and problem-solving, and the skills I developed over the years lent themselves perfectly to bookkeeping. I joined the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) as a student member in 2015 and become a fully certified bookkeeper in 2017, quickly adding 2 further diplomas in Payroll Management and Self-Assessment Tax Returns to my qualifications.

Fast forward to today and I’m now in my happy place helping other female entrepreneurs thrive. I’m also Chair of the ICB Warwickshire Branch and a member of the ICB Advisory Council which is a huge honour and allows me to give back to an organisation that has had such a big impact on my life.

I’ve transformed my own business over the years, including transitioning from sole trader to limited company, pushing myself in ways I’d never anticipated. When I see other business owners working so hard to chase their dreams I want to do everything I can to help them achieve amazing things too.

I live in Warwick with my family and my beautiful (slightly disruptive) cocker spaniel. When I’m not number-crunching, I love Formula 1 and yoga (obviously not at the same time!) and one day I hope to be able to follow the F1 calendar around the world for a season.

My favourite colour is purple, and orchids are one of my favourite flowers – but you might have already guessed that! I struggled for years to keep orchids alive, until I learned more about them. They might seem tricky at first, but once you understand exactly how to nurture them, they will thrive and give stunning results – a bit like your business accounts!
